Interactive builds
How much does an interactive website cost?
Short answer
A focused single-mechanic interactive build typically runs fifteen to forty thousand dollars. Multi-scene experiences with custom 3D, original audio, and heavy asset production run from roughly sixty thousand into six figures. The largest cost driver is almost never code, it is asset production and the number of approval rounds.

What drives the number
Four things, in roughly this order of impact.
- Asset production: custom 3D, original music, and shot photography can exceed the entire engineering cost on their own.
- Scene count: one mechanic done well is dramatically cheaper than four mechanics done adequately.
- Approval structure: every additional stakeholder adds a review round, and review rounds are the most expensive thing on any creative project.
- Timeline: a three-week compression on a six-week build costs real money because it buys parallel work rather than faster work.
Where budget gets wasted
On scope that the visitor never reaches. A second and third scene, an elaborate onboarding, a desktop-specific version, all things that consume a third of a budget and are seen by a small minority of visitors.
The highest-return version of almost any interactive project is one mechanic, built exceptionally well, tuned obsessively for phones.

Can you build an interactive experience on a small budget?+
Yes, if the mechanic is genuinely singular and the assets already exist. Ten to fifteen thousand can produce something excellent when nothing needs to be produced from scratch.
What ongoing costs are there?+
Hosting for a static edge-deployed build is negligible, typically tens of dollars a month even through a traffic spike. Ongoing cost comes from changes, not from running it.
